🇭🇹 Haiti passport and ID photos

Documents Covered for Haiti

This guide covers several official Haitian documents that require a photograph. You need pictures for the Haitian passport photo (35×45 mm) and the Haitian child passport photo (35×45 mm)^[1]. Other required images include the Haitian national identity card photo (35×45 mm)^[2], the Haitian residence permit photo (35×45 mm)^[3], the Haitian visitor visa photo (35×45 mm)^[4], and the Haitian diplomatic or official visa photo (35×45 mm)^[5].

Every single one of these documents shares the exact same dimension of 35 by 45 millimeters. However, the rules for submitting them, whether printed or digital, and the official status of their sizing differ depending on the specific application you are completing.

Passport and Child Passport Rules

When you apply for a passport through the Direction de l'Immigration et de l'Émigration (DIE), you must provide a Haitian passport photo (35×45 mm)^[1]. The exact same official size applies when you request a Haitian child passport photo (35×45 mm)^[1].

For both of these passport types, the sizing has an official basis set directly by the authority^[1]. You can submit your passport photos through both printed and digital formats according to the guidelines^[1]. The official source does not set a specific head height requirement for these applications^[1].

National Identity Card Photos

Getting your national identity card through DELIDOC and the Office National d'Identification requires a specific picture^[2]. You must supply a Haitian national identity card photo (35×45 mm) for this process^[2].

This particular photo uses a common size with no single official size set by the authority^[2]. You must submit this identification image exclusively in a digital format^[2]. Just like the passport rules, the head height measurement is not set by the issuing office^[2].

Residence Permit Photos

If you need a permit to stay in the country, the Direction de l'Immigration et de l'Émigration (DIE) asks for a specific image^[3]. You must submit a Haitian residence permit photo (35×45 mm) with your paperwork^[3].

This requirement follows a common size with no single official size defined by the rules^[3]. You must provide this picture in a printed format rather than online^[3]. There is no official head height requirement set for this specific residency permit^[3].

Visitor and Diplomatic Visa Photos

Traveling to Haiti for tourism requires a specific application image^[4]. You need to provide a Haitian visitor visa photo (35×45 mm) when applying through the embassy^[4].

Diplomats and officials have a similar requirement for their travel documents^[5]. You must supply a Haitian diplomatic or official visa photo (35×45 mm)^[5].

Both visa categories use a common size with no single official size set by the embassy^[4][5]. You must submit both types of visa photos in a printed format^[4][5]. Neither category sets an official head height rule^[4][5].

Tips for Taking Your Photo

Taking a good picture at home is simple when you follow basic photography steps. Stand facing a bright window to get natural, even light on your face without harsh shadows. Ask a friend or family member to take the picture so your expression stays completely neutral and natural.

Keep the camera level with your eyes and stand about one to one and a half meters away from the lens. You can use the tool above to crop your photo to the exact 35 by 45 millimeter dimension required for all these documents.
