Consular authorities recognize the unique challenges of photographing newborns. For infants under one year, slight mouth opening and non-neutral expressions are widely accepted. However, no supporting hands, toys, or parents may be visible in the image frame.
Lay your baby flat on their back over a smooth, plain white crib sheet with diffuse natural lighting from a nearby window. Hold the camera parallel to the infant's face from a distance of approximately 1 meter.
